Thank you to Allen Middle School and Lemoyne Middle School

A big thank you to the principals at Allen Middle School and Lemoyne Middle School for allowing me to come in today to visit the 6th graders and tell them all about the Teen Summer Reading Program here at the Fredricksen Library. Both groups of students were great! I hope to see many of you over the summer.

Early Thought for the Week

With it being a holiday weekend, and the library being closed on Monday, I'm posting next week's Thought for the Week a little early. This one is for all of you who are cramming frantically for finals:

"Do not worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia."
Charles Schultz
Good luck on your finals! See you for Teen Summer Reading.

Thought for the Week

In honor of all of those end-of-year projects that you are all scrambling to finish, here's an appropriate Thought for the Week:

"I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by."
Douglas Adams
I hope to make this a regular weekly feature. Check back.

On-Line Book Discussions

I'd like to start some on-line book discussions. Post a comment or e-mail me and let me know what books you'd like to start a discussion on.
You may notice that comments don't get posted immediately. This site is set up so that I must approve all comments before they are posted. Rest assured that all legitimate, clean comments from teens will be posted. I'm just trying to eliminate the junk - you don't want to see that and neither do I.

New Series Books Added to YA

I've added a second blog just for highlighting new additions to the YA collection. Check out the latest post which spotlights the latest additions to some popular series including The Alex Rider Adventures, Gossip Girls, Midnighters, and the Mates, Dates, and... series. http://newyabooks.blogspot.com/2006/05/midnighters-alex-rider-and-more.html
More new books have been arriving. I'll add info as I have time to post.

Teen Summer Reading

Only a few more weeks of school left. That means it's almost time for Teen Summer Reading! We'll start taking registrations on June 1 at the Information Desk. Last year over 250 of your friends signed up. Don't miss out on the great programs and cool prizes. Go to the library website (www.ccpa.net/fredricksenpl) then click on Programs and Events and choose Teen Programs for details on the programs. First up is The Art of Skeletry on Thursday, June 8 at 7:00. It promises to be gross and disgusting, yet fascinating!
